The large number of Byzantine Churches in Kastoria make it a center of Byzantine culture. These monuments survive from the 10th century. They are closely related to the history of Kastoria, thus presenting characteristics of the city. Nevertheless, they are undeniably splendit examples of Byzantine Art. Some of the most known churches are: the Panagia Mauriotissa Monastery, Koumpelidiki, Agioi Anargyroi and Agios Stefanos.
